Ibuprofen 400mg Tablets (84 Tablets)
Ibuprofen previously sold under the brand name Brufen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDs) which works by preventing the production of compounds called prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are hormones which do serve a number of functions in the human body but also influence pain levels and inflammation.
Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDs)
It is used in the treatment of
Mild to medium pain caused by headache, migraine, neuralgia, toothache and period pains
By reducing the inflammation and associated pain as a result of rheumatic pain, muscular pain, arthritis and other conditions
By contributing to a reduction in fever and a lower temperature
Symptoms associated with cold and flu
When the body suffers an injury this results in a protective response. White blood cells respond to the area in which the body has been injured this contributes to pain, discomfort, swelling, burning sensations and a restriction in movement all symptoms of inflammation. This is the mechanism the body deploys to protect itself from damage, thus allowing time for the body to heal.
Ibuprofen’s painkilling and antipyretic (fever and temperature reducing) compounds work by blocking the effect of the enzyme cyclo-oxygenase (COX) so fewer prostaglandins are produced, which eases pain and reduces inflammation. Aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDs) medications have the same mechanism of action.
