Product Description

What is Champix?

Champix is utilised as a stop smoking treatment and helps patients to beat their addiction to nicotine.  Cigarettes contain nicotine, the addictive component and this is what makes quitting smoking difficult.

Champix contains the active ingredient Varenicline and unlike traditional stop smoking aids does not contain nicotine to act as a replacement so does not maintain the addiction to nicotine.

Champix can help to reduce cravings that result from smoking cessation due to a reduction in nicotine.  In addition Champix minimises the satisfaction that can occur when smoking a cigarette.  The unique properties of this medication are scientifically proven to help people to quit smoking.

How does Champix work?

Most stop smoking products are known as nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and contains nicotine, this means that instead of obtaining nicotine from smoking users of NRT obtain nicotine from these replacement products.  Champix does not contain nicotine and is not a form of nicotine replacement.

Nicotine binds to nicotine receptors in the brain that send chemical messengers and provide the feeling of relief obtained from smoking a cigarette.  Champix acts as on these same receptors in the brain blocking them and preventing nicotine from binding to them.  This action results in a reduction in craving level and a reduction in withdrawal symptoms experienced.  In addition as an extra benefit as Champix blocks the nicotine receptor if a patient does smoke while using Champix they will no longer feel the pleasure associated with smoking, helping to break the smoking cycle.
